One more thing

I know how sad you were that the last blog seemed to be the final one. Good news, you get one more!!

Daniel and I wanted to give you an update about next year and some of our plans for the future. Before we left for camp a word was given to us by a friend that we would be coming into a new authority this year. Neither one of us understood what that meant at the time, but four days later, God’s message to us was clear. Sharon Johnson has decided to step down as camp director and pass the torch on to us. We took it with no regrets or question. We had already been praying specifically for this opportunity! Sharon has been an amazing leader and role model and we look forward to carrying on what she started 7 years ago!  With that being said, Daniel and I have a lot to live up to! The work began… 4 weeks ago! Now, back at home, we are in the full swing of things. Already had one meeting with a group of people from Oklahoma who may be interested in going next year!

One other thought. It has been laid on our heart that we should purchase a camp in Moldova. By purchasing a camp, we would save thousands of dollars (assuming our camp will continue more than 2 more summers). There are old soviet camps all over Moldova at a cheap cost, some as low as $5,000. If we were to buy a camp, we could hire the Deaf in the community to renovate, teaching them hands on skills, including giving them an opportunity to work! We also thought it would be a great mission for Americans to come over for 2-3 weeks at a time and help rebuild as well. We feel strongly God is calling us to do this. We don’t when it will happen, but it’s in the making.

We want to ask for your prayers throughout the year. Prayers for us as leaders and for God’s provision. His plans are much greater than ours. All the more importance to follow HIS.

If you would like to be a part and give to our mission financially, you can do so via PayPal, using the email address deafmoldovamission@gmail.com or mailing a check us at 2204 Rushing Meadows, Edmond, OK 73013.

Thank you for being a part of what God is doing in Moldova. Your prayers and support mean more than you know!

The Love of God

Daniel and I arrived are back on American soil; 35 hours, 4 planes and 1 car ride later we fell fast asleep with the peace of God. Thank the Lord for safe and smooth travels. As an extra plus, our luggage made it!

Leaving Sofia, I experienced strange emotions. I couldn’t decipher if they were positive or negative feelings. I knew I was happy to go home and see family and friends, but on the other hand I was leaving behind a whole other side of my heart. I feel pulled between the two.  The diversity of people we met will stay with us forever.  The experiences gained have helped us shape our faith. We have proof of how God has worked in our lives. Everything we have seen, done and learned points to one thing: God is, has been and will always be our salvation.  It started with a choice; to believe Christ died on the cross for our sins or not to believe. After making the choice to believe, we had to make a decision to follow God in everything we do. Following God isn’t easy and as I said in the previous blog, we fail daily. By believing that Christ is the Savior, we have accepted him into our life so even though we mess up every day, we have been given grace to cover our sins.

This is what Christ wants for all of us. To completely surrender our lives to Him and let him lead, instead of trying to figure it out on our own. This is WHY He came. If you have never experienced the love of God, we want to introduce you to Him. Don’t be afraid to ask.

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him and they will be with me.” Revelation 3:20
